About Compaq Laptops: Free With Mobile Phones
The Compaq Computer Corporation was founded in 1982 and is a personal computer company based in America. Compaq was a popular choice in both America and the UK in the 1980s and 90s with the UK launching a set of adverts starring John Cleese to advertise Compaq computers. In 2002 Compaq merged with Hewlett-Packard but before then it was a very successful independant company and was responsible for supplying many personal computers across the world. In the current economic climate everyone is on the lookout for a good deal and seeing as the laptop is becoming a must have to keep up with the latest technology many laptop companies are releasing a range of budget laptops. Here’s a rundown of some of the best budget laptops HP Compaq have to offer:
Compaq Presario CQ60-300 Notebook Price: £379 (at time of writing)
This laptop comes ready installed with Windows Vista Home Premium, a set up which is widely respected within the computing industry. The CQ60–300 comes with all the features of a normal PC but in miniature.
On looking closer though, the standard memory, at 3072MB is not great, but the CQ60-300 does have the capacity to support up to a 4GB memory. If you choose to upgrade to the 4GB memory however this will cost you extra.
The internal hard drive at 160GB is quite good for a laptop and will hold a lot of programmes and files. The CQ60-300 won’t support a hard drive any bigger but if you feel the need to have more hard drive space you can always buy an external hard drive.
If you’re looking for a laptop that enabled you to keep in touch with friends and family on the move then the CQ60-300 is ideal as it comes with an intergrated webcam and microphone.
Compaq Presario CQ61-100 Notebook Price: £419 (at time of writing)
At a slightly more expensive price the CQ61-100 comes with all the features of the CQ60-300 and some more. The hard drive is bigger, at 250GB, although the memory, disappointingly, is not. The CQ61-100 does have the space to accommodate a bigger 8GB memory (whereas the CQ60-300 can only hold a 4GB memory) if you want to pay the extra price. Upon comparing the two I don’t see the difference apart from the bigger hard drive in the CQ61-100 but if you need a bigger hard drive and are willing to upgrade to a better memory at extra cost then the CQ61-100 if for you.
Compaq Presario CQ71-200 Notebook Price: £449 (at time of writing)
The CQ671 comes in three versions, each are the same computer but have different memory, hard drive and processors. The basic CQ71-200 however, comes with 320GB of hard drive space, an improvement on the 250GB offered by the CQ61-100 but again the memory is the same at 3072MB. A more expensive version of the CQ71-200 (RRP at £479) comes with a better memory at 4072MB but a lesser hard drive at 250GB so when choosing a laptop you need to decide whether memory or hard drive space is more important to you. There is always the option to buy a laptop with lesser memory and more hard drive space and upgrade the memory for an extra price.
