Mobile Phone Deals with a Free Dell Laptop
Dell Laptops are available with a wide range of different configurations. When ordering a mobile phone with a free Dell laptop it is important to check the specific specification of the machine you are being given. The same Dell model is often shipped with different processors, hard drives and memory. Another unusual feature of Dell machines is that they will ship with Linux pre-installed as opposed to Windows. It is highly unlikely that these machines would ever be given away free with a mobile phone though, as they are really targeted toward a niche market. It is just a point worth noting!
The vast majority of deals offering free Dell laptops with a mobile phone will be offering the Dell Insprion laptop. This is Dells entry level range of laptops. Dell Inspirons are available in a range of colours, and makes Dell the manufacturer of one of the cheapest pink laptops on the market at the moment.
There are some more serene colours available too though, the metalic blue being a popular choice.
The inspiron range offer very competitive performance at the price, with some 3 and 4 gigabyte memory machines in the line up. These are amongst the cheapest laptops of this spec available. They are also available with both Dual Core and the superior Core Duo processors. Some Inspirons have built in web cams, radwon graphics cards etc.
The crux of it all is, that an inspiron is never "just an inspiron" it will be an almost individually specced machine. So, when comparint prices of mobile phones offering a free Dell inspiron you need to taket the time to delve into the spec of the different deals to make sure you are comparing like with like, i.e. that what appears to be the best deal is not in fact an inferior machine.
Problems with Dell Inspirons
Overall my impression of Dell Inspirons is pretty good, but the one thing that I really do not like is the poor quality of the keyboard. It amases me how many manufacturers stick a flimsy keyboard onto their machines, given this is the part of the machine we use most. If I was planning to do some serious typing on my laptop, I would be a little retisent about getting an Inspiron for this reason.
If this is something that concerns you, take a look at one in a high street store and see if you are happy with it. Again, my comments on keyboard quality are really from the perspective of a heavy user. If you only plan to use this machine as a spare, or for light work / browsing the internet etc. then it should not present a problem.
Make Sure it is a Laptop and not a WebBook
Something else to watch out for with Inspirons is that there is a range of web books available under the same name, "Inspiron". Now, this is fine if a webBook is what you are looking for, but not if you want a laptop!
A WebBook is a scaled down laptop designed as a mobile device, it is much smaller and less powerful than a proper laptop, so make sure you know the difference before you order!
Check The Value of the Dell Laptop Being Ordered
It is a little odd that Dells laptops are available free with mobile phones, as a while back it was Dells policy to only deal direct with customers selling exclusively off their own website.
I think this policy must have changed recently as it is now possible to buy Dell laptops in a range of stores, including Tesco!
Lately Dell laptops seem to vary in price a lot between different retailers, and of course on the Dell website itself. If you are going to order a mobile phone with a free laptop then you need to know what the value of that laptop is, to ascertain whether you are getting a good deal or not.
So, before ordering a mobile with a fee Dell laptop, go check out the online stores of Tesco, Currys, Dell and any other store you can find listing them to see just how much the machine is worth. Then compare that price to the cashback deal you could get on the same mobile phone, i.e., find out what the retailer would offer you in cashback and compare that to the value of the laptop.
To do this try searching on this site using the search box to the left, copy in the handset model, number of minutes / texts etc. and enter "instant cash" in the free gift search field. Typically the amount of cashback on offer is less than the value of the Dell laptop, but in the event that it is not, take the cashback and buy your laptop elsewhere!
